The German dub of Doctor Who (SERIES 5) is actually rather good! The voice actors are good choices, mostly, the Doctor actually sounds a lot like Matt, Amy’s voice is quite close, too, and it only mildly irritates me that Rory has the same voice actor as Castle’s Detective Ryan—pretty boy confusion!

The translation is as accurate as can be—Who is full of utterly deceptive twaddle-speak, as Captain Sparrow would say, and naturally some things get lost. Also, since this is the first ep, it’s understandable if the script is still a bit… wooden, it can be difficult to find the characters’ voices in a different language. Right now I’m still trying to see if the Doctor and his companions are finally going to get on first name terms this time.

The first real test will be one of the break-neck speeches he delivers, I’m really looking forward to those :D

The German edition of Doctor Who Series 5.1 arrived today (I thought about getting it off amazon.uk and everything, but if it’s in both languages, I can also watch it with my mum, so: YAY), and it’s just like, THIS AIRED TWO YEARS AGO. FINALLY, SERIES FIVE INTRO ON MY TELLY. IN HD AND EVERYTHING. AND I’M STILL AS EXCITED AS I WAS WHEN IT PREMIERED.

Also, centuries late, I’ve got Adele’s albums (CDs are always kinda last on my list, so the money goes different places first…) and a Quick Read (Doctor Who: Magic of the Angels). Yes, good.
